Who's up for Highland Games?
It's when a community comes together!
To prove their strength!
To test their skill!
Some may not do it in the traditional styles.
Others look down right silly as they try.
Then there are those that plain stink.
But when we try and come together, it's Magnificent.
If you have ideas for activities to improve your community, put them to action! See how much fun it can be.

May your home be happy and and full of love.
Before I go on holiday, I thought I would just say, "HA HA...I knew Santa was Scottish.
Here are some Scottish proverbs for you.
-A good tale never tires in the telling.
-Be slow in choosing a friend but slower in changing him.
-Better bend than break.
-Better keep the devil at the door than have to turn him out of the house.
-Better to be alone than in bad company.
-Choose your wife with her nightcap on!
-Enough is as good as a feast.
-Never marry for money. You can borrow it cheaper.
-The cure may be worse than the disease.
I had to post this olde world santa. I thought he was too good to pass up.

Scottish Blood!
This Is Glasgow Scotland. The place I have traced my ancestry to.
My Fourth Great Grandfather...William Watson Ferguson.
The Family Coat Of Arms.A bee upon a thistle and the words Dulcius Ex Asperis which means "Sweeter After Difficulties."
Last but not least, The Ferguson Clan Plaid.

I did some research and found that William, my Grandfather, played the Bagpipe. So it turns out that I am keeping a family tradition alive!

New House!!!!
Haha...We're in! Technically...kind of. Well, we are still unpacking boxes, but my carpet is in, my electronics are up, and I am still collecting shiny objects. Next on the list...door knob! A big shiny one. Not a handle, a knob! They are Zombie proof. The shiny distracts them so they don't bust down the door, but dead flesh isn't very mobile, so the twisting keeps them from entering. I would have to say this move has killed most of my brain cells.

Happy Single's Awareness Day!
Today, in order to mark my rebellion on Valentine's Day, I am going to paint my room. And it is going to look Fabulous!!! Then, I am going to paint the Hall, then the guest bedroom, then the stairwell, then the front room. Oh the happiness that being single brings. If I had a choice, I would stay single for-EVER. Well, wishing those luck that are also single. And to those who aren't....Well, the only way it could be good is if you are married! So to those married people, I wish you a happy date night!

LDSingers???
I am told all the time by my parents that I should join the LDSingers. I am very hesitant because I am afraid it will be a waist of time. My mom tells me that I will have SO much fun doing it. But I don't think I will. This will be my third year passing it by. To tell you the truth, I really just hate the phrase..."Try-Outs." That could do some serious damage to a person. To go and try out, but then you are told you are not good enough. It seems a little cruel to me. So for the greater good,(me), I will just pass it up again. Unless I get enough encouragement. When I say encouragement, I mean somebody will have to drag me to "Try-Outs."

Terrariums....A Hobby?......NO!!!?
Who says that terrariums are a hobby? It is purely science. Now if only we had little people that could fit into these micro-worlds.
I am making my first one out of a light bulb. Just hollow it out by breaking the tubes inside.
Then dump out all the nasties.
Clean it up a bit so it looks pretty.
Now comes the fun part. Designing your stand!!!
And of course, mine is nifty. This is an "adult-only" project. If you really want to have a light bulb terrarium, have your parents do the hard part. You may think this is some sort of trick, but I promise you, it can be done. Especially if ole' butter fingers,(me), can do it. I only had to fail once. Hahahaaa

Remember......

The attack on Pearl Harbor, 1941. United States enters the war.

Devastation from The Bombing of London.

United States deploy Paratroopers, and launch a heavy attack on Nazi Germany.

Hitler commits suicide. Germany Surrenders.

Winston Churchill, who played a key part in the war, holds high the sign...VICTORY!

On the road to Recovery.
So my appointment was for 2:30 pm on January 6th. They didn't get me in until 7:00pm.
Oh how I love hospitals and how you always only have to wait "20 more minutes." So here I am right after my surgery.
The good news: I have the knees of a 14 year old, and the legs of a model. Turns out that because of over-use, there was tissue rubbing on my knee caps. A quick shave is doing me good.
Bad news: It's going to take a long time before I am up and running. I give it a few days!!!

Well, bad luck is better than no luck.
So I went to the Surgeon on Friday in order to find out what I need to do about my knees. And after a few hours, he came to the conclusion of double knee surgery. So in a couple weeks I go in for my "Procedure." I am calling it a procedure just to calm my nerves. In fact it is an exploratory surgery, where when they find all the things that are wrong with me, they fix them right there.
I have been thinking.....worst case scenario. They put me out, I wake up, then the doctor says sorry son.....They had to go. I am expecting the worst so I come out ahead.
You can't have a bad day when you expect the worst. Because you either get what you expected, or it turns out better.
Until then.-Just Another Helping Hand

Only a few days now.
I am looking forward to being terrified of my upcoming appointment with the Orthopedic Surgeon. I hope that there will be a quick fix to my knee problems, but I have a bad feeling that it will be a little more complicated than we wish. But until the bad news comes, I'm just going to keep with a smile on my face and a song in my heart. Unfortunately nobody else likes my music. -Just Another Helping Hand

Best Hot Chocolate?!
I love Cocoa, and am always looking for new recipes. I stumbled across this one and can't wait to try it. If you have never had Nutella, you haven't lived. It is heaven in a plastic jar. All you need is whole milk, chocolate whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and Nutella! If you live in a place that doesn't carry chocolate whipped cream as I do, Just make your own!

Where did November go?
I can't believe that it is the 11th of December already. It doesn't feel like Christmas time. I think the saddest part of my Holiday season is that I am not able to put up Christmas lights. I put them up every year! And not to hurt any one's feelings, But colored lights don't look as nice as "A white Christmas." And don't get me started on LED lights. There is just something warm about white twinkle lights. Event though I strongly disagree with making them flicker, It still looks better than color lights. And how many of you have seen the ugly purple ones? Can you say killing the Christmas spirit? Looks more like all-hollows-eve to me. But I am looking forward to the coming year. I have been thinking of making one of those "Try to get done" lists for the new year. But when I think how I could improve, nothing comes to mind. I'm pretty much perfect in almost every way. The only thing I could wish for, is a glimpse at the future.

Too much "STUFF."
I would always say to my companions, "Don't get me started on the stuff." Unfortunately one of my companions asked, "What stuff."
Well I will tell you. Many people get caught up in the crowd of life. They try and make things more complicated than they need to be. How hard is it to take care of a family? Food, shelter, education, and love. Now here is the "STUFF" everyone tacks on. Food: If your family was starving, you wouldn't be able to kill a deer in order to feed them due to Fish and Game regulations. Shelter: If you had no money, a log cabin would be out of the question due to Forest Service regulations. Education: Public education from K-12 was essentially supposed to be free. I had to pay 400 dollars for "Mandatory" class fees. Now here is the one I can't figure out. Love: It should be unconditional towards all man. But the pride, stubbornness, and malice in our hearts gets the better of us. We need to start showing our love towards other people. We need to find something good about them instead of seeking the bad. We need to start being happy, truly happy. I recently saw a short clip where a choir started singing in a random mall. You can check it out on my sister's blog, raintoday.blogspot.com. Before I go, I would like to leave you with one of my favorite quotes......by me. "When all else fails, try again. If that doesn't work, just keep on trying." All we can do is try our very best.

So close, yet so far away!
Well, I go in on the 17th of this month for a consultation with the doctor. I am hoping that whatever is wrong with my knees, there will be a quick fix. But you never know until someone sticks you with a needle and says oops!
Why can't things be simple? Everything was so much easier when I was young. Oh how I wish those days would come again. Maybe in 50 years when I lose my mind, then I might be a child again. But I'm not looking forward to watching reruns of Golden Girls. Even though Dorothy is quite a looker. Oh if only I had one wish. -Just Another Helping Hand

Well, It all started with the MTC course "How To Use The Spirit."

Then, "How To Use The Spirit In Discussions."

Which lead to Exhaustion. So they gave me a pill that has a 78% chance of Killing me.

That didn't work, So it all pretty much ended in Baptism. This is Cole McRae about to be baptized by his grandfather.

And then I came home. 30 lbs. lighter, and a "twinge" in my step.

So, Here I am at home, Waiting to see a Specialist that may be able to figure out what is wrong with my knees.

Returned Home For Medical!

A little while back in Georgia, I was having serious knee problems. I was unable to bike over 2 miles or walk past 4 blocks without being in excrutiating pain. It was keeping me from doing the work. So, I am back to see a specialist and find out what is wrong with me! Hoping for the best.

God be with you till we meet again.
The journey has been grand. And though we enter into a new chapter of life, the road goes on. And though it may be hard, I know that all will turn out well. I will miss my Family very much. My brother's mission and mine, overlap; I won't be able to see him for 4 years total.I love him very much, but I feel the need to go. I wish him the best in his journeys. I know he will do splendidly.
I also wish my sister the best. She is the most amazing person. She never ceases to amaze me and she is the most giving person I know. She truly cares about others. I know she will do well in life because she is the "stick to it" person.
My dad has always worked hard to provide for his family. I want him to know that I appreciate more than he can imagine. Hard workers are scarce now days, and he has always been a corner stone in my life.
Now my mom is going to have the hardest time letting me go. But I want her to know that I will always love her. She is the kindest person I have ever met, the most loving, and the most wonderful. I will miss you too. And although our journey has taken us to this crossroad, we will be together again before you know it.
I love you. I will miss seeing your smile, hear your laugh, and your hugs.
Until we meet again-Spencer C. Darbro
